New 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia at Brown's Alfa Romeo in NY

Continuing with Alfa Romeo's lineup, the 2017 Giulia Quadrifoglio delivers Italian style, benchmark-level performance and precision as an entry to the premium mid-size sedan segment. The Giulia is built in Italy like its Alfa Romeo siblings and delivers a class-leading 505 Horsepower and its 0-60 time is 3.8 Seconds. The Giulia achieved a record-setting 7:39 Nürburgring lap time; this is the fastest ever by a four-door production sedan. A 'Best-in-class' power-to-weight ratio is awarded to the Giulia - with around 7 pounds per horsepower. The 2017 Alfa Romeo also features a near-perfect 50/50 weight distribution, segment-leading torsional rigidity and the most direct steering available.

Under the Giulia's Hood

The 2017 Giulia is powered by a Ferrari-derived 505-horsepower bi-turbo V-6, and has the designation of the most powerful Alfa Romeo production car ever. Its top speed comes in at  191 mph. A cylinder deactivation systems improves real-world fuel consumption by up to 15 percent. Race-inspired performance is achieved with a design of ultralight, high-strength materials; these include a carbon fiber driveshaft, hood, roof and more.  The state-of-the-art engine features a bi-turbo design with 35 psi peak boost allowing it to deliver a best-in-class 505 horsepower and a flat torque curve with 443 lb.-ft. of peak torque between 2,500-5,000 rpm. The engine's turbochargers are integrated into the exhaust manifold and feature a low-inertia, single-scroll turbo design with variable-boost management for ultra-responsive throttle reaction. The Giulia's modern technologies and short-shifting six-speed manual transmission bring the vehicle to a true status of real-world performance vehicle.  To also achieve world-class levels of efficiency, a cylinder deactivation system enables the Alfa Romeo Giulia to run on three of its six cylinders. Also included in the design is an engine start/stop (ESS) system that stops fuel flow and shuts the powertrain down when the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is at a full stop. When the brake pedal is released, the high-performance bi-turbo engine automatically restarts thanks to the ESS system's high-speed, high-durability starter.

Design of Alfa Romeo Giulia

The Giulia design, both inside and out, is stunning. Attention to detail, impeccable proportions, and Italian craftsmanship make world-class car. A glance at the Giulia and you will feel its commanding presence and menacing face.  A large signature grille is elegantly sculpted within the front fascia to form the signature "Trilobo," a signature of Alfa Romeo design. Bi-xenon projector headlamps, which include an adaptive front-lighting system (AFS) to better adjust to the curvature of the road, and LED daytime running lights (DRL) give the Giulia a signature appearance. An active aero front splitter helps the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio achieve best-in-class aerodynamics. Downforce is managed via a front carbon fiber splitter for optimal stability at any speed. The cabin of the Giulia continues the exterior's brilliant design. Built around the driver, you will find a cockpit with simplistic elegance and performance. The Giulia's high level of craftsmanship shows with an asymmetric-styled instrument panel, ultra-premium leather, carbon fiber, aluminum and accent stitching. A Formula-1 inspired steering wheel has a thick-rim profile that transmits the chassis' direct-steering feel and groups the vehicle controls and the red engine start button. Behind the steering wheel, the Giulia offers a full-color 7-inch driver information display (DID) cluster straddled by two large white-on-black face analog gauges. The Giulia Quadrifoglio's standard leather and Alcantara high-performance sport seats are the lightest in the segment, yet provide comfort for long road trips. Sparco racing seats are available and provide maximum lateral support during cornering on the track.

Conclusions

The new Giulia brings forth Alfa Romeo heritage, along with muscular proportions, simplistic elegance, high-quality surface finishes, and stunning Italian style.  Fine craftsmanship of athletically taut lines and sculptural details give the Giulia best-in-class aerodynamics. The 2017 Giulia Quadrifoglio embodies Alfa Romeo's La meccanica delle emozioni - which mean 'the mechanics of emotion'. It delivers incredible race-inspired performance, advanced technologies, and that seductive Italian style that you will not find anywhere else in the premium mid-size sedan segment.
